How to play CryptoBoat
CryptoBoat is a free multiplayer shipping tycoon you play in the browser. You start with a small fishing boat at Coral Harbor and grow a shipping company that trades between 10 island ports. Other players sail the same sea at the same time, and you can see their ships on the map.
1. Buy cargo where it is cheap
Every port produces some goods and wants others. Goods made in a port are cheap there; goods a port wants sell for more. Prices change every day, and each port has a "hot" good it pays 35% more for. Every unit you buy pushes the local price up, and every unit you sell pushes it down, until midnight.
2. Pick a route and set sail
Ports are linked by 21 sea routes measured in nautical miles. Short routes pay often, long routes pay more freight. A voyage takes real time (about a quarter of an hour on average), so you plan, sail, and come back to sell. Each ship can make a limited number of voyages per day.
3. Look after your ships
Ships wear down as they sail. Below a certain condition they slow down, and at zero they cannot leave port, so repair them in the dry dock. Steam and motor ships also burn fuel on every voyage.
4. Grow your fleet
There are 11 ship models, from 19th-century sailing boats to modern container ships. Bigger ships carry more and can load crates and valuables, but they unlock at higher levels. You earn experience with every voyage and sale.
5. Missions, achievements and the ranking
Daily missions and permanent achievements give extra Doubloons. The shipowner ranking shows the most experienced companies, and the weekly Prize Fund rewards the most active players.
Currencies
Doubloons are earned by trading and are used for cargo, repairs, berths and ships. Pearls are a premium currency you can buy; they cannot be withdrawn. You never need to pay to play.
